Leap Day!

Write for the Fight

A few months ago, I announced that I was taking February 29th off from work.  Leap Day!  I figure if the universe is going to gift me with a freebie day, I should take advantage of it, right?  I planned to spend the day doing something I’d never done before.  Like maybe rock climbing, learning to play chess or feeding the ducks in Boston Garden.

Of course, real life was not privy to the fact it was supposed to bend to my own personal needs, so it turned out that I couldn’t take the day off as I needed to travel for work.  I wasn’t that disappointed, figuring that I could still build in an extra special activity somewhere during the day to make Leap Day memorable.

In the end, though, it turned out that the universe was watching out for me after all.

A little before noon time on February 29th, 2012 I got word that Write for the Fight:  A Collection of Seasonal Essays was uploaded to Barnes and Noble and was available for purchase and reading with the Nook.

That kind of makes me a published writer.

I think I need to sit down.

As a reminder, I’ve previously shared the details about this project on my blog here:

While at Muse 2011 a few weeks ago, I started talking with some folks about online blogs and journals.  Several people told me that online magazines or other similar websites are great ways to get writing experience.  Basically, these sites hire you to write essays about subjects of their choosing.  The more popular your essay is, the more traffic you get to… Read More Reality TV
